Steve Douglass teaches media at Lake Forest High School near Chicago in Illinois. He is one of their key faculty mentors. Mr. Douglass has been collaborating with the High School Media Collective (HSMC) since its inception in 2022. His students actively produce films throughout the year, retrospectives of their experiences, covering the yearly talent show, at team sports, proms, etc., and they often use Blackmagic cameras!
Mr. Douglass took a group of students to Duluth, Minnesota in October of 2022 where HSMC had arranged for their TV pilot to be premiered at the Catalyst Festival. While there, they met with industry experts and many of them said their lives were changed by the experience! HSMC’s founding sponsor is Blackmagic Design. Additional sponsors include Lumberjack System and Catania Studios.
